Mumbai News: 2 Fatal Hit-&-Runs In Bandra East; Police Launch Search For Drivers

According to the FIR, the deceased Abdul Qureshi, 58, a resident of Bandra East, ran a mutton shop. The accident occurred on Wednesday between 4.15 pm and 4.30 pm, when Qureshi was riding his motorcycle towards the southbound BKC-connected Bandra railway bridge.

Mumbai: In two separate hit-and-run incidents, two individuals lost their lives in Bandra East. On Wednesday, at the MSRDC junction, a 58-year-old man was riding a motorcycle when an unidentified vehicle hit him. The driver fled the scene with the vehicle. The man died in the accident. Another accident occurred on Tuesday, when a 41-year-old man, while crossing the Western Express Highway, was struck by an unidentified vehicle, causing fatal injuries. The driver also fled from the scene. The Kherwadi police have registered two separate cases and are making efforts to trace the vehicles and their drivers involved in the accidents.

According to the FIR, the deceased Abdul Qureshi, 58, a resident of Bandra East, ran a mutton shop. The accident occurred on Wednesday between 4.15 pm and 4.30 pm, when Qureshi was riding his motorcycle towards the southbound BKC-connected Bandra railway bridge. Upon reaching the MMRDA (Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority) junction, an unidentified vehicle hit the rear of his motorcycle and fled. After receiving information, the police arrived at the scene and transported him to Sion Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

Another hit-and-run accident took place on Tuesday between 8 pm and 8.15 pm. The deceased, Neelkanth Chavan, 41, a labourer and resident of Bandra East, was crossing the Western Express Highway in front of the Teachers' Colony bus stop (southbound) when an unidentified vehicle struck him, causing him to fall and sustain severe head and forehead injuries. The Kherwadi police transported him to Sion Hospital, where doctors declared him dead before admission.

Police have registered two separate cases against unidentified drivers under Sections 106(1) (causing death by negligence) and 281 (rash or negligent driving) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, along with relevant sections of the Motor Vehicles Act.
