Mumbai Metro One Marks 11 Years, Carries Over 111 Crore Commuters On Versova-Ghatkopar Corridor

Mumbai Metro One, operated by Mumbai Metro One Private Limited (MMOPL) and led by Reliance Infrastructure, has completed 11 years of operations on the Versova-Andheri-Ghatkopar corridor. Since its launch on June 8, 2014, the corridor has carried over 111 crore (1.1 billion) commuters, marking a significant milestone in the city's urban transit journey.

Operating with a peak-hour frequency of under 3.5 minutes, Metro One runs 444 trips daily, with a weekday ridership averaging 5 lakh and reaching a record high of 5.47 lakh. Over the years, the system has completed 12.66 lakh train trips and covered more than 1.45 crore kilometres (\~15 million km), maintaining a punctuality rate of 99.99%.

Ghatkopar Metro Station emerged as the busiest, having handled 30 crore commuters, followed by Andheri with 23 crore and Saki Naka with 11 crore over the past 11 years.

Mumbai Metro Line-1 is now seamlessly integrated with Lines 2A, 3, and 7, significantly improving connectivity across the city and reducing overall travel times.

With a strong focus on sustainability, Metro One offsets over 67,000 tonnes of CO₂ annually,an impact comparable to planting over 3 million trees. The metro line has also been recognized with over 40 prestigious awards for its service, innovation, and environmental contributions.
