Sahar Police arrested a 48-year-old man for allegedly sexually assaulting his daughter in Andheri over a period of two years. The woman, who is now 20 years old, told the police that her father established sexual relations with her under the pretext of 'saving' her boyfriend from a bad omen.

According to police sources, the woman, who had a boyfriend when she was a minor, was confronted by her father regarding her relationship. The man then convinced his daughter that the boy she was seeing was in 'grave danger' and will die, as told by a godman, the complaint stated.

The man further stated that the godman also gave him a solution of establishing sexual relations with the daughter to save her love interest, the police said.

The man allegedly raped his daughter under these pretexts for the last two years. She then informed her boyfriend about the abuse, upon which the boyfriend asked her to report the incident to the police, following which a case was lodged at Sahar police station, the police said.

The man has been booked under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

In another incident, a stepfather has been booked for rape of his daughter at Oshiwara police station. Police said the case was lodged and arrests were made on Monday and that further probe is underway.
