Mumbai: Following the successful Drug-Free Maharashtra campaign, a similar initiative has been launched by the state government in Mumbai starting from October 25. CM Eknath Shinde has set a 30-day target for the police to curb drug supply in Maharashtra. During this campaign, the police have seized drugs worth around Rs 250 crore.

Deepak Kesarkar, Guardian Minister of Mumbai City, informed the media that the police will seek assistance from citizens to curb the issue.

Aim to make Mumbai City beautiful, healthy, and happy

"We aim to make Mumbai City beautiful, healthy, and happy. Therefore, it is essential to keep the city drug-free. We will involve schools and colleges, along with their students, in this campaign. The initiative will commence in 452 schools and colleges across Mumbai," said Kesarkar.

Addressing drug activities near CST station, Kesarkar assured that all such drug-related activities would be eradicated within the next two days.

Kesarkar also mentioned that he would review the Drug-Free Mumbai campaign progress in the same manner he evaluates tasks assigned to BMC officers.
