Mumbai: ICSE pupils attend summer school to prepare for next academic year

Mumbai: Students of the Indian Cerifitcate of Secondary Education (ICSE) board are attending summer school in April to prepare for the next academic year. This summer school helps students prepare in advance and practice the curriculum during the summer vacation.

To help students practice lessons during the holidays, these summer schools function in April. Teachers revealed students are taught basic introduction to the syllabus of the next academic grade. This way, the students get a brief idea of the syllabus and can practice lessons during holidays.

Parents and teachers opine this summer school for a month helps children opt for creative activities or summer club classes. Niranjan Hande, a parent, said, “The summer school helps students to get an idea of the curriculum for the next year. This helps students to prepare in advance as the syllabus of ICSE board involves creative and interactive learning.”

Some students claimed the summer school takes away their holiday time. Yash Pandey, a student of Ryan International School, said, “We just finished our final examinations and now we have to attend school in April. We want to play or join some classes and not attend school during our vacation time.”

While some students claimed this summer school helps them to find their areas of interests. Panki Ganguly, a Class 6 student, said, “I want to join creative writing classes. And I can practice writing during my summer school.”
