Mumbai: A 53-year-old guard of Defence Security Corps (DSC) allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself with his service rifle while on duty at Naval Armament Depot (NAD) in suburban Trombay on Thursday, police said. The deceased, Kesar Singh, was deployed for a sentry duty on the watch tower at NAD, they said. “Singh allegedly ended his life by shooting himself with his service rifle at around 11.30 am,” a police official said.

No suicide note was found from near his body and he might have ended his life over some family issue, he said. Singh’s body was sent for post-mortem, the official said adding that Trombay police have registered a case of accidental death and further investigation was on.
