Surabhi Surendra Lal Srivastava (25) and Mosina Mukhtar Sheikh (19) who worked as small-time television actors in shows like 'Savdhaan India' and 'Crime Patrol' have been arrested by the Mumbai Police in a robbery case.

According to a report by India Today, the duo was facing a financial crunch as shootings came to a standstill amid the coronavirus induced lockdown.

They had recently shifted to a posh building in Royal Palm area at Aarey Colony as paying guests.

A woman who was already staying at the same residence filed a complaint after Rs 3.28 lakh vanished from her locker.

The Aarey Police suspected Surabhi and Mosina after they scrubbed CCTV footage, following which the two women confessed their crime. They were produced before the court and remanded to police custody till June 23.

The cops recovered an amount of Rs 50,000 from the amount that was stolen.

Last year, the crime branch of Mumbai police arrested a 40-year-old TV actor for allegedly cheating people by posing as a police officer, primarily in Uttarakhand and Chandigarh.

Interestingly, the accused used to travel by air to Dehradun, Chandigarh and other cities in north India to commit the crime. He then used to fly back to Mumbai.

The accused had acted in television serials like 'Chittorgarh ki Rajkumari Padmini', 'Chhattrapati Raja Shivaji', 'Savdhaan India' and in movies like 'Gulamkai and Bahanchor'.
