Mumbai: Maharashtra women have a new voice in their fight. Amruta Fadnavis, the wife of Maharashtra chief minister, Devendra Fadnavis, met Ajoy Mehta, the commissioner of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) at the civic headquarters on Tuesday. A supporter of women’s issues, she raised the concerns of self help group for women. These self help groups provide midday meals to the students in BMC schools.
Talking to The Free Press Journal, Amruta said, “I raised the issue of the pending payments of the women. It has been over one-and-a-half years that the members of the self-help groups haven’t received their salaries. They also had a few objections regarding some clauses mentioned in the tender process, which they feel are against them.”
Amruta said, she has spoken with Mehta and requested him to solve their problems at the earliest. “It deals with their livelihood and it is an important matter. The commissioner was positive and he immediately acknowledged some of the points and assured to take positive steps,” said Amruta.
