Mumbai's civic body BrihanMumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Monday has allowed walk in COVID-19 vaccination for lactating women. A notification regarding the same will be issued soon, said BMC.
Shiv Sena leader Priyanka Chaturvedi said, "I have just been informed by BMC that my request for giving the option to pregnant women for COVID vaccination is going to be implemented and also for lactating mothers. They will be in the vaccination ambit. Thank you Shri Iqbal Chahal. A formal notification to follow soon."
Earlier, BMC on Sunday said it will implement 'walk-in' vaccination for citizens at its centres from Monday to Wednesday.
A statement issued by it said citizens aged 60 years and above will get the first and the second dose of Covishield vaccine during this period. Health workers and frontline workers as well as 45 years and above will get the second dose.
All age groups will get the second dose of Covaxin.
From May 27 to 29, the vaccination drive will be carried out after registration by beneficiaries. There will be no vaccination on May 30.
Any changes in the schedule will be informed to the public a day earlier, the civic body said.
On Sunday, Mumbai reported 1,431 new coronavirus cases and 49 fatalities, taking the caseload to 6,97,810 and the death toll to 14,623, as per official figures.
