Mumbai: A man was injured and major traffic congestion ensued after a tempo collided with a car and overturned on the southbound lane of Narayan Bodhe Bridge in Vikhroli on Tuesday morning. The incident occurred around 6:40 AM, according to the police.
Preliminary information suggests that a Tata Safari was struck by a tempo while both vehicles were heading south on the bridge. The impact caused the Safari to overturn on the road. In an attempt to avoid a further collision, the tempo driver lost control of the vehicle, which subsequently veered onto the footpath and overturned.
Fortunately, all occupants of the Tata Safari escaped unhurt. However, the tempo driver — identified as Ankit Dhananjay Dubey, 28, a resident of Rathi, Bhiwandi — suffered minor injuries. He was promptly taken to Ambedkar Hospital for medical treatment.
Vikhroli police reported that both vehicles sustained significant damage and were rendered inoperable. With the assistance of traffic officials, the vehicles were cleared from the bridge, and normal traffic flow was restored after a brief disruption.
