On Thursday, a 25-year-old man was beaten to death and thrown into a nullah at Ghatkopar. The police have said that the incident happened over a petty issue.
According to Mid-Day, the deceased was identified as Ganesh Mhaske, a resident of Sainath Nagar in Ghatkopar West. The cops have also identified the four accused who were involved in the incident. The cops are suspecting the involvement of a suspended police sub-inspector in it. The incident took place on the night of June 19, when Ganesh Mhaske was standing with some of his friends near New Amar Bharat Seva Mandal in Sainath Nagar. Around 1.30 am, on Thursday, an Innova arrived at the spot. The passengers allegedly got into a scuffle with Mhaske over moving his bike aside so that they could drive ahead, which ended with Mhaske being badly beaten.
After beating Mhaske badly, the accused lifted him and threw him against the wall of a nullah. And, after hitting the wall, Mhaske fell into the nullah. Later, after the car left, Mhaske's friends found him unconscious and, with help of locals, they fished Mhaske out of the nullah. Later, he was rushed to a hospital where he was declared dead. According to Mid-Day, the scuffle was triggered as Shyam Ayre, one of the accused and suspended police sub-inspector, had a longstanding enmity with Ganesh over the latter trying to make advances towards his niece.
