A 19-year-old collegian was killed in a road mishap on Monday morning, at 9am, after his scooter collided with a BEST bus in Malad (W). The youth, identified as Cyrus Peter Veerswami, was on his way to college in Uttan, when a BEST bus allegedly collided with his scooter, leading to his death. Malvani Police have taken the bus driver in custody and were registering a case against him at the time of going to the press.
According to police, the incident occurred near Marve Road on Monday morning, when Cyrus was going to the college on his scooter, MH-47-AZ-4677, when a BEST bus, MH-01-AP-0522, coming from the opposite direction allegedly collided with his motorcycle. Cyrus was immediately pushed on the side of the road and fell off the bike.

While locals rushed him to a civic-run hospital, Cyrus was declared brought dead, said police. Sources said that there was a confusion on who was at fault at the time of the accident and they are scrutinising the CCTV camera footage of the spot.
Police are likely to book the bus driver under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code for causing death due to negligence (section 304A), rash driving in a public way (section 279), along with sections of the Motor Vehicle Act.
