The MHB Colony police on Sunday arrested two people for allegedly raping a minor girl in Borivali.

According to the police, the suspect, who happen to be the victim’s uncle and cousin, were arrested within four hours after the commission of the crime.

The incident came to light on Saturday after the minor girl narrated the ordeal to her parents, who live in Virar in the Palghar district. The parents immediately registered a police complaint.

According to the victim, she had gone to reside at her aunt’s place in Borivali between 2014 and 2022, during which she was raped multiple times by her aunt’s husband and their 19-year-old son.

The police immediately registered a case and began their investigation. As the location of the crime was in Borivali, the case was transferred to the MHB colony police station. The police arrested both the suspect, the uncle and the cousin brother within four hours after the case was transferred.

The police have booked them under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections 376 (rape), 376 (2) (rape by multiple persons), and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
