Mumbai: The Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC), through its subsidiary Mahasamruddhi Renewable Energy Ltd (MREL), is inviting buyers for sale of solar power generated from an upcoming 164 MW ground-mounted solar installation across interchanges along the Samruddhi Mahamarg expressway. The power will be sold under a long-term Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) via a tariff-based bidding process, with the base tariff set at Rs 3.30 per kWh. It has already floated a tender seeking buyers.

The project aims to utilize vacant land at expressway interchanges for renewable energy generation, aligning with the state's green energy goals. Installation and commissioning of the solar project are expected to be completed within 15 months from the signing of the PPA.

The 701 km Samruddhi Mahamarg, officially named Hindu Hrudaysamrat Balasaheb Thackeray Maharashtra Samruddhi Mahamarg, connects Nagpur to Thane and is a major greenfield infrastructure corridor with significant potential for renewable energy development. Power generated will be evacuated to nearby substations, contributing to sustainable energy supply in the region. MSRDC recently commissioned the entire corridor for traffic movement.
