Condemns the shifting of proposed International Finance Centre from Mumbai to Ahmedabad
Mumbai : The state Congress had condemned the decision of shifting the proposed International Finance Centre from Mumbai to Ahmedabad saying that the Modi-Fadnavis duo is trying to push Maharashtra backward and make Gujarat the first state of the country.
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis appear to have decided to push Maharashtra backward and make Gujarat the number one state of the country,” MPCC chief Manikrao Thakre has said in his statement released to the media.
“Mumbai being the financial capital of India, the UPA government had proposed to bring the first ever international finance centre in the country to Mumbai. But, the media reports now say that the government has decided to shift the centre to Ahemadabad in Gujarat. This is part of the larger conspiracy to undermine the financial might of Mumbai,” Thakre has said.
The BJP government at the Centre has constantly made efforts to undermine Maharashtra and Mumbai, but the Chief Minister has never said anything about it, Thakre has said.
The Union government is making conscious efforts to move resources out of Mumbai and Maharashtra and the State government too is helping them, Thakre said.
The Union government tried to divert 100 TMC water from the Godavari basin to Gujarat. Then they decided to close down container handling operations at MbPT. Similarly, the coast guard training centre near Palghar too was shifted to Dwarka in Gujarat. Plan to shift Air Indian and RBI offices out of Maharashtra too have been unearthed some time back. A BJP MP had spoken about shifting the Western railway headquarters to Ahemadabad. Moreover, Gujarat chief minister Anandiben Patel comes to Mumbai to appeal industrialists to come to Gujarat. “What can be more traumatising than this,” Thakre said.
