The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Monday did not seek further custody of encounter specialist Pradeep Sharma post his 11-day detention with the agency.
It, however, sought further custody for two others arrested on June 17 along with the former police officer - Satish Mothukuri and Manish Soni. The court sought the duo's custody till July 1.
Two other accused in the case - Anand Jadhav and Santhosh Shelar were produced before the court though the NIA had their custody till 1 July. It sought that they are remanded in judicial custody along with Sharma.
Seeking custody for another five days of Mothukuri and Soni on Monday, the NIA said Mothukuri had smothered auto parts dealer Mansukh Hiran. The explosives-laden SUV parked outside industrialist Mukesh Ambani's residence had been traced to Hiran. A few days later, his body had been found in a Thane creek.
Soni, the NIA told the court, was riding the Tavera car when the murder took place.
After the incident, the agency said the duo had traveled outside India as well as Mumbai and it needs to probe these travels.
Pradeep Sharma's advocate Sudeep Pasbola filed an application before the court that Sharma perceives threat in jail as he has been part of many high-profile investigations. He has been under police protection before his arrest, he told the court. He prayed that Sharma be lodged in Thane jail instead of Taloja. The court directed that the jail look into the allegations, assess the threat and decide accordingly.
