New Delhi: The Police personnel secured the second highest 40 police medals for meritorious services in the Republic Day awards, second to only Uttar Pradesh scoring 74 medals. Four others from received the President’s police medal for distinguished service. Three of them are from Mumbai and one from Ratnagiri. A total of 855 police personnel from the central forces and the state police have been decorated with various medals — three getting the President’s police medal for gallantry, 146 the police medal for gallantry, 74 for distinguished services and 632 for meritorious services.
