Mumbai: Along with Western Maharashtra, Konkan shores too experienced unseasonal rains on Monday. On Sunday, parts of Kolhapur and adjoining areas were struck by hailstorm.
These unseasonal rains have destroyed crops, leading to losses for farmers. Heavy rains lashed the Konkan coast and overcast weather continued until Tuesday evening.
In Amboli, Chokul and other regions of the Sahyadris, there was thunder, lightning and rainfall. Villages in Dodamarg, Sawantwadi and Kudal were also struck by heavy rains, with power outages being reported in these and other areas.
Belgaum and other villages on the Maharashtra-Karnataka border witnessed floods which destroyed crops.
Sangli too had overcast skies and later heavy rains, while there was a drizzle in Tasgaon, Miraj taluka. Rainfall was also recorded in Mahableshwar and Wai, with sunshowers (rains in bright sunshine) occurring on Monday afternoon. Marathwada, which is reeling under severe drought, too received rain, as did Neknoor and Manjar Sumba in Beed.
