The indefinite strike launched by a section of Maharashtra’s transporters has been temporarily called off until July 30, following a breakthrough meeting on Friday between Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik and senior state officials.

According to a truck owner who was part of the agitating transporters' group, the state government has agreed to fulfill nearly 80% of the demands raised by them. “A formal government resolution addressing the remaining concerns is expected by the end of the month. If these issues remain unresolved, we will resume the strike,” he warned.

On Thursday, The Free Press Journal reported that the government had strategically defused the strike by forming a high-level committee to look into the grievances. Following this move, several major associations, including the School Bus Owners and Operators Association and the Luxury Bus Association, along with numerous truck and tempo operators, withdrew their support for the strike. As a result, the strike gradually lost momentum and impact.
