Maharashtra on Saturday recorded 8,172 fresh COVID-19 cases, taking the number of active cases to 1,00,429. Besides, 124 COVID-19 deaths were reported in the day, taking the number of total fatalities to 1,26,851.
8.950 patients were discharged in the day, taking the tally to 59,74,594. The recovery rate in the state rose to 96.28%. The case fatality rate in the state is 2.04%.
Currently, 5,77,615 people are in home quarantine and 4,156 people are in institutional quarantine.
The Mumbai circle--which consists of MCGM, Thane, TMC, Navi Mumbai, KDMC, Ulhasnagar MC, Bhivandi Nijampur MC, Mira Bhayandar MC, Palghar, Vasai Virar MC, Raigad, Panvel MC--recorded 1512 new cases.
The Nashik circle--which consists of Nashik, Nashik MC, Malegaon MC, Ahmednagar, Ahmednagar MC, Dhule, Dhule MC, Jalgaon, Jalgaon MC, Nandurbar--reported 979 fresh COVID-19 cases.
The Pune circle--which includes Pune, PMC, PCMC, Solapur, Solapur MC, Satara--recorded 2943 new cases.
The Kolhapur circle reported 2635 new cases, Aurangabad circle 96, Latur circle 251, Akola circle 38, and Nagpur circle recorded 108 new COVID-19 cases.
Meanwhile, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Friday urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to formulate a national policy to stop public gatherings for social, political and religious purposes, in a bid to curb the spread of COVID-19.
He sought three crore anti-coronavirus vaccine doses per month for Maharashtra, saying it would expedite the vaccination process in the state.
Thackeray was speaking during the prime minister's video interaction with the chief ministers of six states over the coronavirus situation.
