Palghar, Maharashtra: In a significant step towards environmental sustainability and rural development, the Palghar district administration is launching a series of awareness rallies to promote bamboo cultivation among farmers.

The initiative, announced on Friday, is part of the Maharashtra state government’s broader mission to plant one crore bamboo trees, with a strong focus on the Thane and Palghar districts.

According to District Collector Dr. Indu Rani Jakhar, the rallies will take place from May 15 to May 18, aiming to educate villagers on the ecological and economic benefits of bamboo farming.

“This initiative is vital not only for environmental conservation but also for enhancing the livelihoods of our rural and tribal communities,” Dr. Jakhar stated.

A coordinated effort is underway involving agricultural officers, the forest development and social forestry departments, and Gram Rojgar Sevaks. These teams have been tasked with mobilizing and guiding local farmers throughout the campaign.

Approximately 9,000 farmers are expected to take part, with rallies being organized across various locations in Palghar to ensure wide outreach and participation.
