Kalyan, July 6: Vijay Suryanvashi, Municipal Commissioner, Kalyan Dombivli Municipal Corporation appeals NGO (Non-Government Organisation) and environmentalists to come forward and help the authorities in planting trees on reserve and open plot across the twin city.

On Monday, during a meeting, Suryavanshi checked the list and status of the reserve plot with KDMC. During the meeting he discusses plans to save the plots from illegal construction and land mafia's.

Suryavanshi on Monday checked and found KDMC has a total of 343 reserve plots that are vacant. To save such plots, some initiative is important. "We have some NGOs who are ready to help in planting trees. If many such NGO approached us. We can build a border or boundary line with the help of trees to keep the plot secure. Also, we can give it to sportsmen who can utilize the space for training and physical fitness purposes. So in such a situation we may need trainers for the youngsters. The trainers should approach us if they are interested in such activities," added Suryavanshi.

Also, the authorities discussed preparing boundary walls and iron railing. But it is too expensive for a short period of time. "Usually, vacant plots often see illegal construction in days. The land mafia's built small huts and forced tenants to stay in. The authorities try to take action, the tenants feel themselves cheated. In such a situation the authorities are to blame. So to keep a tab on the vacant plot we came up with innovative ideas," said an official from KDMC.
