Thane: Marking a significant milestone in regional connectivity, Phase 1 of the Kasarvadavli Flyover is now operational, bringing much-needed relief to commuters across the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR).

This metro-integrated flyover aims to streamline travel across Thane, Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Bhiwandi, Vasai, and Virar. Inaugurated under the leadership of Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy Chief Minister & MMRDA Chairman Eknath Shinde, and the Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik. The initiative comes as part of a series of infrastructure upgrades accelerated under the guidance of Dr. Sanjay Mukherjee, IAS, Metropolitan Commissioner, MMRDA.

Key Benefits

The new underpass ensures smooth traffic flow from Gaimukh to Waghbil, leading to reduced travel time and increased average speeds on Ghodbunder Road. It also offers significant decongestion relief for both daily commuters and freight transport.

Enhanced Connectivity

The Kasarvadavli Flyover facilitates smooth movement between Thane, Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Bhiwandi, Vasai, and Virar. It helps reduce congestion caused by heavy vehicles on Ghodbunder Road and improves the overall flow of interstate and office commuters, especially between JNPT, Vashi, and Thane.

Technical Highlights

The flyover features a 2-lane structure with a width of 7.5 meters and includes a 2x2 underpass. The total ramp length is 721 meters, and it is designed to handle up to 73,333 Passenger Car Units (PCU), making it a vital addition to the region’s transport infrastructure. One step closer to a well-connected MMR, the Kasarvadavli Flyover is now open for smoother travel.

In an X post shared by MMRDA, they announced that the Kasarvadavli Bridge is now open for commuters. The post also highlighted the key benefits, inauguration details, technical highlights, and enhanced connectivity offered by the project.
