Kalyan, April 1: The Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) has posted an impressive performance in property tax recovery for FY 2025–26, garnering Rs 432.41 crore as of March 31, 2026, about 86% of its Rs 500 crore target, underlining a steady uptick in civic revenue mobilisation.
Key revenue driver and administrative push
Property tax continues to be the corporation’s principal revenue stream, critical for underwriting infrastructure upgrades and delivery of essential civic services across Kalyan-Dombivli.
To drive collections, the civic administration sharpened its recovery mechanism under the stewardship of Municipal Commissioner Abhinav Goel, supported by Additional Commissioner Yogesh Godse and Deputy Commissioner (Tax) Balasaheb Chavan.
Strategic measures boost collections
A calibrated strategy—anchored in periodic review meetings with ward-level Assistant Commissioners and tax superintendents—helped identify gaps, fast-track recoveries, and ensure tighter compliance. This sustained monitoring translated into a marked acceleration in collections across divisions.
The ‘Abhay Scheme’ proved to be a key catalyst, offering relief and incentives to defaulters to settle pending dues. The amnesty window saw a strong response, with a sizeable number of property owners clearing arrears, thereby providing a significant fillip to overall revenue.
Outreach and future targets
Officials attributed the momentum to coordinated field operations, stricter enforcement, and improved taxpayer outreach. Awareness drives and consistent engagement further boosted voluntary compliance.
Expressing appreciation for citizens’ cooperation, KDMC officials urged taxpayers to continue timely payments and leverage online payment platforms. The corporation has set its sights on achieving 100% recovery in FY 2026–27.
