Mumbai: Entertainment Journalists Guild on Wednesday acknowledged the apology posted by Balaji Telefilms head Ekta Kapoor on the spat that took place between actor Kangana Ranaut and a journalist during a recent promotional event of her upcoming film Judgemental Hai Kya. The committee, however, said it will not lift ban on the lead actor of Balaji Telefilm’s forthcoming film.
“The Entertainment Journalists Guild appreciates Ms Ekta Kapoor’s support and standing for what is right through her official statement,” read the statement. “However, we will continue to ban on Kangana Ranaut across all media platforms. Rest assured, we will not let this matter affect Judge Mental Hai Kya in any manner and will be supportive of your film and other cast members, barring Ms Ranaut,” a statement put out by the guild said. The apology statement issued by the production house did not have Kangana’s name in it, instead, they referred to her as Judge Mental Hai Kya’s actor”.
“A lot is being reported about the debate that ensued between our film Judgemental Hai Kya’s actor and a journalist, at the film’s song launch event on July 7. Unfortunately, the event took an unpleasant turn. While the people involved in it fairly held their own perspectives, but because it happened at the event of our film, we, as the producers, would like to apologise and express regret for this untoward incident,” read the Balaji statement. Ekta Kapoor’s statement shared on social media comes a day after the Entertainment Journalists’ Guild of India said the media would boycott Kangana Ranaut and demanded a public apology from the actor, Ekta Kapoor and her banner.
