Mumbai : The Goregaon police are probing the possible involvement of an insider in the brutal murder of a newly-wed woman in her flat on Saturday. Among those to be questioned were several family members.
On Staurday afternoon when Ashfaq Mansoori returned home for lunch, he found his wife, Rubina, lying in a pool of blood at their residence in Goregaon. Rubina and Ashfaq used to reside in the same locality in Jogeshwari when they were single. Here, they fell in love and got married two months ago. Ever since Rubina had been living with her husband and brother-in-law in the MMRDA flat where the murder took place.
Rubina’s brother has lodged an FIR against Ashfaq and his family members, blaming them for the murder. Sources reveal that not all members of the families were happy with their marriage. The police are currently investigating if that could be the motive of the murder.
Police officials believe that the murderer is an insider and have even detained the slain woman’s brother for interrogation. Not happy with the development, a huge crowd converged at Behram Baug to voice its discontent. “We do not understand why the police are questioning the complainant. We are not going to bury her till justice is done,” said a relative of the victim.
“We have a few clues and are investigating the same. We are not allowing the differences between the two sides to cloud the investigation and are questioning all the family members linked to the couple,” said Balsingh Rajput, DCP, Zone XI.
