Mumbai: The Nationalist Congress Party took a severe beating the 2019 Lok Sabha polls. After the results, Pawar posted a rather self-motivating post sending a signal out to the world and party workers that they are not down and out. “While I haven’t won, I haven’t lost either,” is the blithe retort. Pawar’s daughter Supriya Sule doubled her victory in their home town of Baramati, retaining their bastion. Though Kanchan Kul, her opponent of the Bharatiya Janata Party, put up a formidable fight.
Parth Pawar’s loss in Maval constituency was one of its kind, when Pawar family for the first time witnessed defeat. Parth is the grand newphew of Sharad Pawar. Instagram post of Pawar says “Firstly I thank the voters of Maharashtra for their support, from the bottom of my heart. Along with NCP, workers from all parties of the Maha Gathbandhan worked extremely hard during these elections…”
He further said, “NCP in Maharashtra has won four seats, while few rounds of counting still remain in Parbhani and Madha. I am optimistic about the outcome of these two constituencies. We accept the final verdict of the general public.” Speaking of their loss, Pawar said, “We will introspect about our defeat and revive contact with the masses. Elections are over and results have come in, but now we need to concentrate on drought. We have to work towards giving relief to the drought-stricken people.”
