Navi Mumbai : Thane guardian minister Ganesh Naik thanked chief minister Prithviraj Chavan for granting an FSI of 2.5 for the redevelopment of dilapidated CIDCO tenements which were built in the early eighties.
He was speaking at the inauguration of the convention centre by the CM at Vashi on Thursday.
The CM, too, thanked Naik for pursuing this issue as well as the issues of rehabilitating slum dwellers on the lines of Mumbai and protection to the PAPs.
The general body of NMMC had passed a resolution in 2012 when it sought 2.5 FSI for old and dilapidated buildings under its jurisdiction. The Cidco, on the other hand, had suggested 3 FSI for buildings it constructed in NMMC and its own are (from Kharghar to Panvel). The planning agency insisted on 3 FSI because it wanted to use a part of it to provide housing to LIG.
Naik, however, said that the Cidco model not commercially viable for builders. The civic body says 2.5 FSI recommendation as per CRISIL report of sustaining increase in population with infrastructure provision.
Naik said, “The civic body will be the controlling agency for the scheme. Around 70% of the residents can take a call on the builder.’’
The decision was taken at a high-level meeting chaired by Chavan on Tuesday in the presence of Ganesh Naik, Airoli MLA Sandeep Naik, Sanjay Bhatia, MD, Cidco, MMRDA commissioner UPS Madan, and urban development secretary M.K Srivastava.
