Mumbai, May 7: Once abandoned by their parents and now lovingly raised by hospital staff, Riddhi-Siddhi turned 14 and on Thursday celebrated their birthday with joy, music and dance at Bai Jerbai Wadia Hospital for Children, the place they have called home since birth.
The emotional celebration marked another milestone in the inspiring journey of the twin girls, who were born conjoined and later separated through a complex surgery as infants.
After being abandoned at birth, the twins were taken under the care and protection of Wadia Hospital, where doctors, nurses and staff members became their extended family over the years.
The hospital auditorium was decorated with colourful butterfly-themed décor and vibrant balloons symbolising transformation, hope and growth — a reflection of the girls’ own remarkable journey. Surrounded by hospital staff, young patients and their families, Riddhi-Siddhi cut a large birthday cake amid loud cheers and applause.
Celebration filled with joy and emotion
The atmosphere soon turned festive as the twins, dressed in elegant outfits, happily danced to music, filling the room with laughter and positivity.
Hospital staff members who have seen the girls grow up over the years described the celebration as deeply emotional and heartwarming. The twins, once known mainly for their challenging medical condition, are now thriving teenagers with their own dreams, interests and personalities.
Dr Minnie Bodhanwala, CEO, Wadia Hospital, said watching the girls grow into confident young teenagers has been an emotional experience for everyone associated with the hospital. She said their love for dance reflects their freedom, happiness and inner strength.
Hospital continues to support twins’ journey
She added that the twins are performing well academically, actively participating in extracurricular activities and steadily building independent identities with confidence.
According to her, Wadia Hospital has always believed that every child deserves care, love and opportunity, and the institution remains committed to supporting the girls at every stage of life.
