With focus on Assembly Elections, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis convened a meeting on Monday to review the ongoing big projects in the State. After BJP won the Lok Sabha Elections 2019 with a massive margin, the Maharashtra CM is looking to win a second term in office.

The meeting was aimed to gear-up the pace of irrigation projects of Maharashtra and transport infrastructure projects for urban areas. During the meeting, Fadnavis asked officials to overcome issues pertaining to the implementation of projects and execute their completion as soon as possible.

On upcoming bullet train project, which will connect Mumbai and Ahmedabad, Fadnavis kept a September deadline for officials to complete acquisition of land and other formalities. “Private lands in 77 villages in Palghar district and another 22 villages in Thane are required for the project. On Monday, officials informed that acquisition was pending in about 12 of these villages, while the joint land measurement exercise had been completed to a large extent. The Chief Minister is keen to start construction work (for the Mumbai end) immediately after monsoon,” a senior official told the Indian Express.

Fadnavis also asked officials to fast-track the process of bidding for Pune-Mumbai hyperloop project. The project aims to bring the travel time between Mumbai and Pune down to just 25 minutes. CM also urged official to fast-track approvals of files related to Metro rail projects in Mumbai, Pune and Nagpur. He set a December-2019 deadline for the commissioning of the Dahisar-DN Nagar Metro line and Dahisar East-Andheri East Metro Line. Works of Goshikhurd irrigation project and some other delayed irrigation projects were also discussed during the meeting.
