Bhayandar : The Anti Human Trafficking Wing (AHTW) of the Thane (rural) police unearthed a flesh trade and trafficking racket that had been clandestinely operating from two notorious lodges located on the Mumbai-Ahemdabad National Highway in Kashimira.
Two waiters who doubled up as pimps have been arrested while nine girls including three minors were rescued by the police team.
Following specific informa-tion about prostitution activities being operated from bar-cum-lodges on the highway, a police team, under the instructions of Thane (rural) SP Rajesh Pradhan, sent decoy customers to two lodges namely R.K. Premier and Sapna Lodging. After confirming the authenticity of tip-off, a police team led by AHTW in-charge API Sachin Gavas planned simultaneous raids on both the lodges and rescued nine girls including three minors.
“Two waiters identified as Vinay Muni Modi (28) and Ashok Narayan Gupta (41) were caught red-handed while striking a deal with our decoy. Both operated as pimps,” informed Gavas.
A case under relevant sections of the stringent PITA has been registered against duo who are being remanded to custody.
