E-learning in schools if Mahayuti wins

Mumbai: Revealing his plans to make school education free of text books, Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray on Thursday said an e-learning scheme for students would be launched across the state, if the ‘Mahayuti’ (grand alliance of Sena, BJP and other parties) comes to power after Maharashtra Assembly elections. “We have decided to make school education textbook-free if voted to power in Maharashtra. Every government-run school in the state will be provided with an e-learning kit and television sets, where you just insert the CD and students can learn all their subjects in a digital format,” Thackeray said addressing reporters at the Sena Bhawan, the party’s headquarters in suburban Mumbai. Each student of the government school from class 8 to 10 will be provided with a tablet wherein their complete school syllabus will be stored in a memory card so that they do not have to carry school bags, he said. “We will ensure that the syllabus provided to students in their tabs will be provided in all languages and would be taught in an audio-visual form,” he said. Along with the tabs, students studying in rural areas will be provided with solar chargers for their tab batteries as well, the Sena leader said.
