Mumbai: The Vile Parle police booked a Dronacharya award-winning gymnastics coach under the POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Act on August 21. He allegedly sexually assaulted a 16-year-old female gymnastics player at a gymnasium in Vile Parle East.
According to the FIR, the minor girl is a gymnastics player and was practising at Vile Parle's renowned gymnastics club in Vile Parle East. However, she could not go to the gymnasium for practice recently due to studies.
Meanwhile, on August 21, he sent her a "Hi" message. She replied "Hi" and told her mother about it. Her mother told her to ask him why he sent the message. Then he sent another message to the girl and asked her to meet him at the gymnasium. Around 11 am, she went to the gymnasium. When she reached there, she noticed he was alone. He told her to keep her shoes inside, locked the door, and sexually assaulted her. Later, he told her not to tell anyone about the incident.
The next day, she told a female friend about it. Later, she started crying, and other friends approached her and took her to a PT teacher. The girl shared the ordeal with her teacher. The teacher informed her parents. Further, she, along with her parents and a teacher, went to the Vile Parle police station and filed a complaint. Following this, the police filed the case under POCSO.
