Mumbai: A disturbing incident of stalking and public indecency in South Mumbai’s Fort area has triggered widespread outrage, after victims alleged that a man followed them and engaged in an obscene act by masturbating in front of them in a public space. The case has now been reported to the Mumbai Police, with an FIR registered and an investigation underway.
According to the victims, the encounter began when they noticed a man following them and staring in an unsettling manner. Sensing discomfort, they attempted to move to a safer and more crowded location in an effort to avoid any confrontation. However, the individual allegedly continued to trail them, raising further concern.
The situation escalated when the man reportedly sat under a nearby tree and began masturbating while maintaining eye contact with the victims. The act, described as deeply distressing, left the victims shaken.
Footage Captures Number Plate Of Accused's Vehicle
Despite the circumstances, the victims managed to capture portions of the incident on camera. The footage shows the suspect seated on a scooter before quickly leaving the spot after realising he was being recorded. The vehicle is seen to have a Mumbai registration number (MH01FF 6808) and preliminary information suggests the accused may be from the Mazgaon area.
Police officials have taken note of the video evidence and are expected to use it, along with the vehicle details, to trace and identify the suspect. According to the victims' account, efforts are underway to verify the registration details and track the movement of the vehicle.
The incident has gained traction on social media, where the video has been widely circulated. Several users have demanded strict action, tagging the Mumbai Police and calling for the immediate arrest of the accused. Many have also raised concerns about women’s safety in busy commercial districts like Fort. Authorities have urged citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious or inappropriate behaviour in public spaces.
