Mumbai : Those approaching the BMC for technical approval of proposed development plans for new high-rises in the city will now have to shell out more money. The civic body will soon increase the fees for technical consultation to Rs 1 lakh from the present Rs 50,000.
This rule will be applicable to all high-rises towering more than 70 metres in height and having an aspect ratio of 1:9. The amount charged will be applicable per block of the high-rise.
As per procedure, development of all high-rises in the city is first scrutinised and approved by a team of technical experts appointed by the civic body in 2004. Its members include Chief Engineer of the Development Plan, a professor from VJTI, a scientist from Search Results
National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (NEERI), an official of the Mumbai Fire Brigade and a consultant expert of Urban evelopment and planning.
The fees have been increased taking into consideration the cost of maintaining a team of experts on BMC’s payroll, their increments in salary since 2005, travel allowances and other items required for scrutiny.
