Attention Mumbaikars! Traffic Police issues advisory ahead of Republic Day parade; read details inside

The traffic police in a detailed notification said, On 26 January due to the Republic Day parade at Shivaji Park ground, all the adjoining roads shall be closed for vehicular traffic from 06.00 hrs. to 12.00hrs.

Mumbai: In view of the Republic Day parade, which will be conducted at the Shivaji Park ground in Dadar on January 26, the Mumbai Traffic Police has issued new altercation and diversion in order to maintain smooth traffic flow.

Roads close to, and the adjoining ones near Shivaji Park ground will be closed for vehicular traffic from 6:00 hours to 12:00 hours, said the notification by Dr. Raju Bhujbal, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Traffic.

The roads that will be closed are N.C Kelkar road and Keluskar Road from L.J Road Junction up to the south and north junction. While roads that will be ‘one-way’ for motorists are, Keluskar Road south – for east side traffic which means motorists can move from Swatantraveer Savarkar road. The right turn from Meenatai Thackeray statue on Keluskar Road north – will be one way too. S.K Bole Road will be one way from Siddhivinayak Junction to Hanuman Temple.

Similarly, Savarkar Road – from Siddhivinayak Junction to Yes Bank will be one way. The alternative is to take left at Yes Bank junction – Shivaji Park Road No. 5 – Pandurang Naik road – right turn at Raja Bade Chowk – L.J Road – Gadkari Junction then proceed through Gokhale road towards South Mumbai.

Motorists proceeding from Siddhivinayak junction through Savarkar road – are to take a left turn at Portuguese Church then proceed through Gokhale Road – Gadkari Junction – L.J Road – Raja Bade Chowk towards the west suburb.

The ‘No Parking’ roads are Keluskar Road (main, south, north), Lt. Dilip Gupte Road from Keluskar Road (north) to Pandurang Naik Road, Pandurang Naik Road (no. 5), N.C Kelkar Road from Gadkari Chowk to Kotwal Garden and Saint Dnyaneshwar Road.

The emergency vehicles will be parked at Swatantry Veer Savarkar Smarak Hall, Vanita Samaj Hall, Mahatma Gandhi Swimming Pool, and Kohinoor PPL at N.C Kelkar Road in Dadar west.

The invites to the parade at Shivaji Park ground – the ones coming from the south and central Mumbai are to proceed through the Tilak Flyover bridge. The vehicles coming from South Mumbai through Dr. Annie Besant Road shall proceed through Century Junction – Savarkar Road – Siddhivinayak Junction and proceed to gate no. 5 in Parade Ground. The invitees coming from Western Suburbs through Mahim old Cadel Road proceed via Hinduja Hospital – Savarkar Road – taking a left at Vasant Desai Chowk and entering through gate no. 1 in the Parade ground. While for the ones coming through Mahim L.J Road to proceed through Mahim Church – Lady Jamshedji Road – Raja Bade Chowk – Gadkari Chowki – taking a right turn at N.C Kelkar Road – to enter gate no. 5 in the parade ground.

Locals and other citizens without car passes can park their vehicles at Kohinoor Parking Lots of BMC located at J.K Sawant road near Plaza Cinema, Dadar west.

The police added that there will be signage boards and police personnel at various spots who will help motorists with directions so as to ensure the least inconvenience.
