Thane: Against the backdrop of heavy rain and waterlogging in major parts of the city on Wednesday, the Thane, Kalyan-Dombivli and Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporations have declared that no COVID-19 vaccination will be held on Thursday, June 10.
Heavy rainfall lashed Mumbai, Thane, Navi Mumbai and other parts of the MMR region on Wednesday. Officials from Thane Municipal Corporation said that after Indian meteorological department (IMD) on Monday predicted heavy rainfall in Konkan region including Thane district till June 12.
"In such a situation if citizens come out for vaccination, it can result in calamity. Hence, taking safety and precautionary measures we have closed all the vaccination centres in Thane on June 10 and are waiting for further orders from the senior officers and IMD," said a TMC official.
The Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation health department too announced the closure of vaccination centres on June 10.
Similarly, the Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporation too announced closure of all the vaccination centres from June 10 to June 13, 2021.
