Kalyan: A 21-year-old youth, jumped off the Thane-Bhiwandi Kasheli bridge on Monday afternoon. A search operation was undertaken by the taking help of the local fisherman. However, his body was not found after six hours of search operations.
Bhiwandi Narpoli police found his two-wheeler which was parked by the side of the bridge who also recovered his mobile phone and driving licence from his vehicle. The youth has been identified as Arman Irfan Ahmad Alvi (21), who resided with his family at Indira nagar in Thane.
Police said, Alvi was an engineer and worked in a private company at Mumbai. The police said, Alvi had got engaged last year and the marriage date was expected to be fixed for next year. Investigating officer, Babasaheb Gorde, from Narpoli Police Station said, “Alvi’s family members told us, he had called his mother around 12.30 pm on Monday and he seemed normal.
They did not know if he was going through any depression. His body was still not recovered till Monday night,” said Gorde. Alvi’s father, Irfan works in a private company, while his mother is a home maker. Police said, he was riding his scooty (two-wheeler vehicle) and was heading towards Bhiwandi Kasheli Creek from Thane.
Bhiwandi fire station official said, “We received a call at around 3.10 pm after which we formed a team and one fire tender was also rushed to the spot. Even after six hours of search operation, his body has not been found.” Gorde said they called on the fisherman and locals to help them in the search operation by deploying their boats.
“Two and three private boats were deployed in this operation, but his body was not found. We have to stall this ops since it turned dark. The body may have moved away from the creek,” said Gorde. Police said, the cause of suicide is yet to be ascertained and they cannot question the family, since they are under immense trauma.
