On Wednesday, May 18 a Thane court sent Marathi actress Ketaki Chitale to 14 days judicial custody after her police custody ended on Wednesday. The actress was arrested on May 15 for allegedly sharing a derogatory post about NCP supremo Sharad Pawar.

The Thane police on May 15 booked the actress under Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections 500 (defamation), 501 ( printing or engraving defamatory matter) and 153A (promoting enmity between different groups). The post by Chitale drew the ire of NCP workers who physically manhandled and threw ink at her at the time of her arrest. From last few days Chitale went through many mental torture and it is not going to be eased soon.

Earlier Ketaki herself argued in court during the last hearing. Police had told the court on May 15 that they needed the police custody of Ketaki Chitale to investigate further into her offensive post after she was produced in Thane court on Sunday. The Thane Crime Branch Unit-1 had sought 5 days police custody from the court, but the court had remanded Ketaki in police custody for three days.

Actress Chitale has got into more trouble over the offensive post against Sharad Pawar. A Thane court had remanded Ketki in judicial custody for 14 days and Mumbai police are now likely to take possession of her.

It seems that the trouble for Ketaki Chitale will not be ending soon. 15 cases have been registered against Chitale at various police stations in the state. Pune police is also soughting her custody after her release from 14 days judicial custody.

One of the sources from the Thane Crime Branch Unit-1 on the condition of anonymity said, "Actress Ketki Chitale is also likely to have to visit various parts in Maharashtra in connection with various cases filed against her after her offensive post against Sharad Pawar."
