Bombay HC asks Maharashtra govt to file reply in plea over renaming of Pathanwadi metro station as Dindoshi

The Bombay High Court on Monday granted two weeks' time to Maharashtra government to file reply in public interest litigation (PIL) challenging change of Metro station’s name from ‘Pathanwadi’ to ‘Dindoshi’ after petitioner deposited Rs 1 lakh to prove bonafide.

A bench of Justices AK Menon and MS Karnik asked the govenrment to file its reply to a PIL by Naee Roshni social organisation which has approched the HC over the renaming of Pathanwadi metro station to Dindoshi by the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA).

The PIL alleged that the MMRDA changed the name of the metro station after political pressure from BJP MLA Atul Bhatkhalkar and Shiv Sena MLA Sunil Prabhu. The MMRDA passed the order for the renaming of stations on July 18, 2019.
