Western Mumbai—literally throbbing with life— is an interesting amalgamation of tradition and modernity. The microcosm of Andheri was truly a living testament to this. While the crowds thronged into the popular tourist destinations, there is so much more to be discovered within the gems of this boisterous suburb of a vibrant city.
So let me take you on a journey through my experience in Andheri, which turned out to be a memorable ride while I was quite comfortable at the best hotel in Andheri West, Bloom Hub | WEH Andheri.
Stay at Bloom Hub | WEH Andheri
A short and quick ride from Chhatrapati Shivaji Airport brought me to Bloom Hub | WEH Andheri. From the moment I entered, the bright yellow interior lifted my mood as much as anything. The minimal design is refreshing and new, exactly what I needed to kick off my explorations.
As soon as I arrived, the friendly staff quickly processed my check-in. I was getting comfortable on my Cloud Bed which looked like it would ensure several restful nights. I could already tell it had all the modern amenities, including high-speed Wi-Fi—perfect for any digital nomad or business traveler. This hotel was going to make the perfect home base for my adventures.
Breakfast at Bloom
I needed something to eat before venturing out, so I headed to the Global Coffee House & Eatery in the hotel. Fresh coffee aroma and tasty Pan-Asian food filled the air. I ordered a hearty breakfast, and sipped my coffee, as I planned my day. I couldn't help but think how nice it was to begin the morning in such a way.

Hidden Gems in Andheri
Now, with all my energy restored, I set out to explore the hidden gems of Andheri.
1. Amma's Kitchen (5 Min Walk)
Amma's Kitchen is just a 5-minute walk from the hotel. It has a homely feel, it's a favourite among locals—I ordered a plateful of hot idlis and a nice filter coffee. The owner is an elderly woman whom everyone lovingly calls "Amma," she made everyone feel they belonged to her family. That is how I was welcomed into the local culture that home-cooked food alone could bring.
2. Something Fishy Restaurant (9 Minute Walk)
Next on the list was Something Fishy, it was just a nine-minute walk from here. This unassuming seafood place is where locals go to get the freshest catch. The menu was wide-ranging, but the chef recommended prawn curry. I followed his advice and was shocked by the various explosions of flavors. The relaxed, informal ambience invites easy conversation with fellow patrons and recommendations of further treasures in the vicinity.
3. Mahakali Caves (16 min away)
Feeling adventurous, I took a cab to Mahakali Caves, just a 16-minute ride from Bloom Hub. In Mahakali Caves, people find quiet places dated back as far as 1 BC. The fine carvings and sculptures of earlier ages were spectacularly breathtaking inside the caves. So, I spent some hours strolling through them, lost in thought over the rich history, peace, and calmness here. It was a refreshing break from city stress.
4. Juhu Chowpatty (21-Minute Drive)
No visit to Andheri would be complete without going to the Juhu Chowpatty. From Bloom Hub, it's 21 minutes a ride, and during my time there, I enjoyed the sunset over the Arabian Sea. The place was active, surrounded by families having fun there, couples, and food vendors all over. I could not help but sample some local bites, such as pav bhaji and bhel puri, feasting at the energetic ambience there.
An Evening at Bloom
After a day full of adventures, I returned to Bloom Hub. My body required a couple of hours of stretching out and refreshing. I used the time to visit the hotel's fitness centre. Later, when I was back and too tired to go out, I used the opportunity to dine in Global. The cosy atmosphere and delicious dishes made for the perfect solo date. I loved their prawn sushi combined with the orange and chia seed mocktail. I sat there sipping my mocktail, enjoying the ambience and reflecting upon the hidden spots that spoke their own stories.
More Hidden Gems Around
On the next day, I ventured out to explore a few more local gems around Andheri.
5. Nav Chaitanya (16-Minute Drive)
I visited Nav Chaitanya, a quiet and peaceful place where you can do yoga, meditation, and much more. It was an escape from the chaos on the roads. I did a morning session of yoga, which invigorated and prepared me for the rest of the day.
6. Shree Siddhivinayak Temple (31-Minute Drive)
Shree Siddhivinayak Temple was another temple on my list. It is a famous Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Ganesha and attracts devotees from all over. The architecture is stunning, and the atmosphere inside is peaceful. It's a very popular spot, but visiting it in the morning allowed me to absorb the spirituality without the crowds.
7. Khar Danda Sunset Point (31-minute drive)
During sunset time, I went to Khar Danda Sunset Point. It is a lesser-known spot among people known for its sunsets. where people visit to unwind and enjoy the sunset. The horizon was painted in orange and pink colours. I struck up some conversations with some locals who shared stories of their lives in Mumbai which added a personal touch to my experience.
