Ujjain (Madhya Pradesh): Ujjain was ranked first amongst the 12 Smart Cities under CITIIS programme during an online progress review meeting on Tuesday. Ujjain is the only city in Madhya Pradesh selected under CITIIS programme and will receive Rs 80 crore from AFD and EU for its project MRIDA phase-II.
The joint secretary congratulated Ujjain on the first rank and appreciated Ujjain Smart City for successfully implementing the projects envisaged under CITIIS programme and completing all mandatory compliances of the programme. The joint secretary said that from now onwards project progress will be reviewed on a monthly basis and it was directed that all projects be completed by March 2023.
Ujjain Municipal Corporation commissioner Anshul Gupta, who is also the executive director of the USCL, explained the project's progress to the joint secretary. It was also informed that the likely cost of CITIIS is revised from Rs 135 crore to Rs 151 crore. The joint secretary gave immediate in-principal approval of the revised cost.
The online meeting was organised under the chairmanship of joint secretary, MoHUA, Government of India Kunal Kumar. Team members of NIUA and officials from all 12 cities were present.
