People flouted social distance at shops, in front of the ATMs among other places.
Municipal Corporation and cops are monitoring the situation, yet, snaps captured by Free Press during the afternoon were less than desirable.
The administration entrusted the responsibility of maintaining social distancing by the customers on the shopkeepers.
And shopkeepers in turn shift the blame on the shoppers.
"The customers do not listen; they insist that the items in their shopping list be packed at the earliest. Have we come here to live? is the response of most of the customers," said a shopkeeper.
People thronged outlets of herbs, grocery stationery, snacks and general stores among others. The photos of the Freeganj area, but provide an inkling as to what will be the condition of the shops in the whole city.
Collector Ashish Singh has already said that this is an arrangement for 15 days, a decision will be taken after assessing the situation. Still, about 400 covid-19 cases are active in Ujjain district and a little carelessness can spell trouble.
