Indore (Madhya Pradesh): A major controversy has erupted in Indore’s Nandlalpura area, where Hindu transgender individuals have accused some Muslim transgender persons of forced conversion to Islam and intentionally infecting them with HIV through contaminated syringes.

The allegations have sparked community tensions and led to the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) by Indore Police. Sakina Guru, a Hindu transgender leader, has accused Malegaon-based Payal alias Naeem Ansari and Seema Haji alias Farzana of leading the coercion campaign.

Sakina claims those who refused to convert were injected with HIV-contaminated syringes, resulting in nearly 60 falling ill, with 12 undergoing treatment at MY Hospital’s ART Centre.

Advocate Sachin Sonkar, representing Sakina, said legal complaints have been filed with top authorities including the CJI, PMO, CMO, and the Police Commissioner. He also submitted videos supporting claims and alleged that nearly 100 infected individuals, victims of a so-called ‘Kinnar Jihad,’ are living in Indore without medical oversight.

The dispute has led to repeated clashes between the two groups, with FIRs registered in Chandan Nagar and Vijay Nagar police stations. A major incident at Pandrinath police station last month even led to the transfer of the Station In-Charge.

Amid protests and a suicide threat from Sakina’s group over police inaction, Police Commissioner Santosh Kumar Singh constituted a SIT led by DCP Rishikesh Meena and other senior officers. The investigation is underway, with officials treating the matter as highly sensitive due to its communal and public health implications.
