Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Traffic police taught a lesson to traffic rule violators by making them manage traffic in the city on Friday.
According to officials, at Lavkush Square, motorists caught riding without helmets or violating traffic rules were asked to help manage traffic for some time while holding placards carrying road safety messages.
Officials said the awareness drive was organised to raise awareness of traffic rules and prevent road accidents. Officers explained to motorists that traffic rules are meant for everyone's safety, not just to avoid fines.
The placards carried messages such as “Always wear a helmet”, “Do not use a mobile phone while driving”, “Stop behind the stop line at red lights”, “Do not drive at high speed or carelessly” and “Always wear a seat belt in four-wheelers”.
The traffic police told the motorists that if everyone starts violating traffic rules, it can lead to accidents and disrupt traffic movement. The motorists were asked to follow the rules themselves and encourage others to do the same. The motorists also promised to follow traffic rules and drive safely in the future.
