Suicide of teacher in Guna: BRC shifted but kin, teachers' bodies demand FIR against guilty

Guna: A day after a Jan Shikshak committed suicide, Guna (in-charge) collector Vivek Raghuvanshi shifted the block resource coordinator Shambhu Singh Solanki to Bajarangarh. Besides, divisional commissioner has suspended him.

On demand of probe a two-member team has been constituted to investigate the matter.

Administration also suspended one Jan Shikshak Omkar Chhari, who did not give charge to Shrivastava, due to which he was attached to block education headquarters.

Besides, Ramswaroop Sharma, a contract service clerk at DPC office has been shifted from Guna to Jan Shiksha Kendra, Chanchoda. Termination notice has also been issued to Ramswaroop Sharma.

On Thursday one Jan Shikshak Chandramauleshwar Shrivastava accused Solanki of mental harassment and consumed poison on Thursday. He died while undergoing treatment at Bhopal on Friday afternoon.

After the incident, hundreds of Jan Shikshak in Guna district have expressed their resentment. They are demanding stern action against Solanki.

After the death of Jan Shikshak the collector in-charge has finally taken against the persons against whom the teacher has made allegations. However, the family members of the teacher who committed suicide and the teachers' organisations are demanding that an FIR be registered against the guilty. They threatened that cremation of the deceased teacher will only be held if an FIR is lodged or after the administration gives an assurance of the same. Teachersí submitted a memorandum demanding that an FIR be registered against the accused.

Probe Team

In-charge collector Raghuvanshi has constituted a two-member team comprising SDM Guna and district education officer to probe the matter. This team will check the veracity of the allegations made by Srivastava before his death and will submit a report within seven days. It will also look into the points of the memorandum submitted by 16 public teachers.

Suicide attempt, death

The district education officer was ordered to investigate as to why Srivastava was not given charge after being appointed as a Jan Shikshak at Jan Shiksha Kendra MLB Higher Secondary School Guna. As a part of the investigation, Srivastava came to record his statement. He accused several staff of harassing him and consumed poisonous substance in the office of BEO. After which he was admitted to the District Hospital. However, his condition worsened so he was admitted to a private hospital in Bhopal, where he died while undergoing treatment.
