Shajapur (Madhya Pradesh): The defeated sarpanch candidates of Patoli village have submitted a memorandum to ADM Manjushra Vikrant Rai demanding recounting of votes. They alleged rigging in the vote-counting process. According to information, five candidates were in the fray for the post of Sarpanch and after counting, Bhanwar Singh and Dilip Singh received 348 and 340 votes respectively.

Other candidates complained that 22 votes were rejected and no one was listening to their agents, sitting on their behalf. The supporters of the winning candidate, created a lot of chaos and threw people outside the room where counting took place. There was a tussle between the supporters of the winning candidate and others who demanded recounting.

This created ruckus at the polling station on Saturday. SDM Shaili Kansa who came to solve the issue promised to investigate the matter. The memorandum says that voters were allowed to cast their votes even after the scheduled time and the rejected votes were not shown while counting of votes.
