Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Collector Asheesh Singh has said that the width of the road from LIG Square to Navlakha has to be increased from 30 meters to almost double. Similarly, the width of the road from LIG Square to Dewas also has to be increased.
A plan is being made for this. Some experts have also suggested that if an elevated bridge is built from Radisson Square to Vijay Nagar, then the burden of the main road and traffic will be reduced. Similarly, elevated bridges should also be built at Malwa Mill Square and Scheme Number 140 Square.
Collector Singh said this while addressing the meeting of the Road Safety Committee held here on Tuesday.
MP Shankar Lalwani presided over the meeting that was organised at the Residency to give further impetus to road safety measures. MLAs Madhu Verma and Golu Shukla, Collector Singh, IMC Shivam Verma, DCP Traffic Arvind Tiwari, CEO of Smart City Divyank Singh, CEO of IDA RP Ahirwar, officials of other related departments and traffic experts were present in the meeting.
Addressing the meeting MP Shankar Lalwani said that if a driver or pedestrian becomes a victim of an accident due to wrong road or bridge construction, speed-breaker, indicator etc., then the contractor should be held responsible for it and an FIR should be registered against him in the police station. If the police find any driver driving at a speed higher than the prescribed limit, then strict action will be taken against the concerned driver.
The traffic police should be strict against those who drive at high speed after drinking alcohol, as there is always a possibility of an accident in such conditions. The traffic department should also pay special attention to make the traffic smooth at the intersections.
MLA Madhu Verma said that drivers have to face problems due to buses standing at Rajiv Gandhi Square and Rajendra Nagar Square. Many times, traffic jams also occur and this situation needs to be resolved.
Traffic is repeatedly obstructed due to illegal parking of private buses on the road from Palda to RTO and due to illegal encroachment at Mangalia toll post.
