ACP Turns Good Samaritan, Sends Woman To Old Age Home In Indore

On the basis of the CCTVs installed near the spot, the police had arrested a man in connection with the same.

Indore (Madhya Pradesh): After the sensational incident of the rape of a beggar woman, who was roaming in the streets of Sadar Bazar area in the night a few months ago, Zone-1 police has become more sensitive in cases of crime against women.

In a recent case, assistant commissioner of police (Malharganj) Vivek Singh Chouhan and his JEE aspirant daughter played Good Samaritan for a woman and sent her to an old age shelter home safely. The woman was found roaming near Sadar Bazar police station late on Monday.

After hearing the dog barking, ACP Singh Chouhan came out of his bungalow and found the woman sitting under a tree around 1 am. He tried to talk to her and asked her name and address but she didn’t reply and started scolding him.

Meanwhile, ACP's daughter Adhya, who is a JEE aspirant, and his wife felt that the woman was hungry and fed her. ACP Chauhan called constables Ajay Karare and Praveen from the Sadar Bazar police station and the women PCR team, which included sub inspector Savita Barud, constables Sheshrao, Rina, Shikha and driver Sandeep Tomar, to the spot and instructed them to take the woman to a safe place.

The women PCR team left the woman safely in an old age home in Banganga and also gave necessary instructions to the director of the old age home regarding the care of the woman. ACP Chouhan informed Free Press it seems that the woman is mentally ill and she hails from Rewa district. However, further information about the family members is being gathered.     

It is noteworthy that a 40-year-old woman, who was roaming in the streets in Sadar Bazar area was sexually assaulted by a man on the intervening night of October 21 and 22. After finding her in semi-nude condition, the patrolling policemen informed the senior officials and the woman with the help of police officials was taken for the medical examination.

On the basis of the CCTVs installed near the spot, the police had arrested a man in connection with the same. After this incident, the Zone-1 police also increased night patrolling in the area.
