Ratlam (Madhya Pradesh): In a shocking incident, a missing sarpanch candidate from Gadavadiya panchayat of Sailana janpad has recorded a win with more than 200 votes in the recently-concluded panchayat polls.
In this bizarre incident, Dhool Singh Garwal, a prospective candidate for the post of sarpanch, went missing on July 1. Due to this, the process of vote counting was postponed till July 1.
Further, the vote-counting process concluded on Monday here at janpad office in Bajna village in which Garwal recorded a win with a total of 626 votes. While rival candidate Bhanwarlal Dodiyar received 387 votes, overjoyed over the victory, Garwal took out a ‘victory rally’ in the region while the defeated candidate claimed to complain to the State Election Commission (SEC).
Notably, Garwal, a candidate for the post of sarpanch, went missing on Thursday night. The supporters of the candidate have demanded the administration stop voting. The officials of the administration reached the village and requested its residents not to hinder voting.
The ADM and additional SP also reached the village and appealed to villagers to continue with the voting. A special team during its search operation found a missing candidate near Sawariya Seth in Rajasthan on Sunday.
